Written 18 Step Interior Painting Process
Listed below is our interior painting process and also some additional information business and home owners find helpful for preparing to get interior painting work.

What We Do Additional Information
1) Remove pictures, paintings etc... from the interior walls in preparation of painting. A good rule of thumb for all interior painting, regardless of the contractor, is for you to take down anything expensive yourself. Painters don't know if Great Great Grandma gave you that picture or if it was purchased at the flea market.
2) Move furniture to the center of the room when practical. i.e. if its not too big to be moved. We will move the furniture to the center of the room for you and cover it with plastic or canvas as required.
3) Scrape loose and flaking paint.
4) Set up scaffolding and ladders as required. If you have a tall ceiling and we need scaffolding, please be making plans for what to do with small children. They love to climb on scaffolding.
5) Cover windows and doors and fixtures, walls not to be painted, etc.. with plastic as required.
6) Degrease or clean walls as required with a liquid TSP type cleaner. A good time to note that smoking is not only bad, nicotine stains cost more money to clean and paint over. We've painted over a lot of nicotine stains.
7) Neutralize and rinse off TSP. TSP type cleaner could be compared to the old lye soap. Its aggressive but used once in a while is not a problem.
8) Remove switch plate covers, outlet covers, etc... Note: Cable TV, phone, internet, network wall plate covers will not likely be removed to avoid the risk of bumping a loose wire and disabling the system.
9) Caulk cracks. cracks a few inches long are not problematic. If you have one running the length of your wall or ceiling then there are some more things you need to know. Please see the stucco repair section of this web site.
10) Fill nail holes. PLEASE tell us if you want to return your pictures and paintings to the same spot so we don't fill the holes. Many people want to re-organize after painting and we fill the holes unless told otherwise.
11) Spot patch stucco texture on sheet rock. Small patches on an interior are not usually a problem. As the size grows from a postage stamp to a deck of cards the rules on what to expect change. See Interior Stucco Repair
12) Prime as required. Raw wood, new sheet rock patches, caulk lines etc.. will be primed and repaired to facilitate a good finished product.
13) Paint with premium grade interior paint. Premium interior paint is the way to go. It covers better and runs less. If you want to see a painter frowning, give him cheap interior paint and ask him to make the finished product look nice.
14) Remove scaffolding and ladders. Scaffolding and ladders are typically on job sites from beginning to end. If there are going to be small children present please let us know.
15) Reinstall switch plate covers. After the painting is complete, switch plate covers are put back on. Painting without switch plate covers on is one of the single biggest ways to get the professional look.
16) Clean up. We always clean up the job site.
17) Includes all material and labor for list above.
18) Job inspection and walk around with the client. We walk the finished project with you. Our interior motto is "Its easier to paint than to argue" In the process of walking the job if you see anything we missed we will take care of it. Occasionally people see shadows and think its a missed spot. Instead of arguing we paint it again, and move on. When we're finished with the walk around and you're satisfied we collect the final payment.

Various Options
Jobs are bid "cafeteria style" so clients can pick and choose what they want done and what they can skip to save money. For example a typical interior will have the walls and ceilings quoted separately. Doors and trim will also be quoted independently. This allows you to pick and choose what you want without paying for items that are not needed.

Bid prices don't change!
Once the bid is provided the price doesn't change. When you want AA Brite 24/7 to do a job for you the check can be written and put in your desk. When the job is complete the price on the check hasn't changed! Owners note: I hate it when I'm quoted a price for a service and then the price starts dancing upwards. I don't like it happening to me and I don't do this to my clients.

Experienced Painters
All our crew leaders have been painting for many years; most crew workers have been painting for at least two years. For an average single family home, our crew typically consists of the crew leader and one painter. For larger homes and commercial jobs we combine crews.

We're one call away
A large part of having many satisfied clients is good communication which happens as a result of our being immediately available to answer your questions or address a specific concern.

Working 24 hours
The hours we work at a jobsite are dependent on your requirements. We frequently work odd hours on commercial jobs, malls, schools, etc.. to be there when the public isn't. This is why "24/7" is included in the name of the business.

Seasoned Painters
When we show up to paint your home its with seasoned painters. All of my crew leaders have been painting for years and the average crew worker has been painting for at least two years. On an average single family home our crew typically consists of the crew leader and one painter. For larger homes and commercial jobs we combine crews.

Availibility
As the owner my cell phone is on from 6am to 9pm Monday through Saturday. If I don't answer I'm probably talking to a client or on the phone and will call right back. The Crew leaders; David, Renee and Jon also carry cell phones and their numbers are listed on the Crew Leaders section. A large part of having many satisfied clients is good communication and our being immediately available to answer any questions or address a concern is the first step to pleasing you.
